Monoamniotic twins with complications and their outcome: case series

چکیده
Monoamniotic twins are identical sharing the same amniotic sac and placenta, with two separate umbilical cords. Although uncommon, monoamniotic associated high antenatal perinatal morbidity mortality. We present here a series of three cases twin gestations fetal complications who delivered in our hospital over period one month. Our first case Mrs. ABC 33 weeks gestation presented anemia polycythemia sequence, second case, Mrs XYZ as primigravida 35 gestational age severe preeclampsia Cord entanglement went into postpartum hemorrhage was conservatively managed for same. third DEF G2P1L1 previous scar 1.5 years back 23 Twin reversal arterial perfusion sequence underwent medical termination pregnancy.

Monoamniotic Twins: A Case Series
Monoamniotic twinning is a rare event associated with a high perinatal morbidity and mortality. In this article, six pairs of monoamniotic twins diagnosed prenatally during 2001-2003 were evaluated. The management protocol included documentation of chorionicity and amnionicity by early ultrasonographic examination, 2-4 weekly serial ultrasound surveillance, antepartum fetal heart rate monitorin...
متن کاملDiscordant monoamniotic twins with Pena–Shokeir phenotype
Pena-Shokeir phenotype is a rare disorder. However, its etiology is incompletely understood. It may be familial or may be due to anoxic-ischemic etiology. Although rare, it can affect one twin in a monoamniotic pregnancy, most likely due to early cord entanglement.
متن کاملSonographic detection of monoamniotic twins.
The true incidence of monoamniotic twinning has been almost impossible to determine accurately because it requires closer inspection of the membranes and placenta at delivery than is usually performed. Sonography of 3440 patients presenting for genetic amniocentesis identified 39 twin gestations, one of which was monoamniotic (0.026%). Prospectively with ultrasound, four of the twin gestations ...
متن کاملCase Series of Monoamniotic and Pseudomonoamniotic Twin Gestations
We retrospectively evaluated a series of 18 monoamniotic and 7 pseudomonoamniotic (secondary to rupture in the membrane dividing monochorionic diamniotic twins) twin gestations managed after 20 weeks' gestation. There were no significant differences in the incidence of neonatal death or umbilical cord entanglement between the monoamniotic and pseudomonoamniotic twin gestations (33 versus 21%, P...
متن کاملImpact of cord entanglement on perinatal outcome of monoamniotic twins: a systematic review of the literature.
OBJECTIVE To review the current literature concerning perinatal outcome of monoamniotic pregnancies with cord entanglement. METHODS A search in PubMed, EMBASE and MEDLINE for articles published between January 2000 and December 2011 was performed, using the following keywords: monoamniotic/monochorionic pregnancy(ies); twins; cord entanglement; fetal ultrasound/surveillance. Inclusion criteri...
